Our cross-continental IPA! Made with Australian and American hops, this tropical heavy IPA opens up in the glass with notes of hugely flavorful notes of pineapple, orange sorbet, lemon-lime, and tangerine. It has a soft but pointed bitterness and a rich, velvety mouth feel. Hopped in both the kettle and dry hop to extreme yet carefully calculated degrees, Green maintains an elegant balance and unique drinkability. It’s a crew favorite.
In 2012 we were graced with a pound of Galaxy hops for the first time. With a mysterious, enticing, and deeply tropical scent to the pellets, we brewed a beer that was loaded to the brim with Galaxy. And it was terrible! We quickly learned that over hopping with Galaxy can create woody, astringent, and chalky overtones that are quite undesirable in a finished beer. So we got to work refining Green to push the hop dosing to the absolute extreme while avoiding the pit fills we discovered with the early test batch. A special blend of American hops were brought into the mix to help accentuate the raw pineapple and dank citrusy overtones Galaxy is known for. The result is a beer that displays all of the beautiful character of Galaxy amidst a backdrop of round and soft tropical flavors. It is an immensely juicy beer, and one that carries a certain indefinable quality that is both familiar and mysterious. Julius defines us as a brewery, but Green is our desert island IPA and one we are so pleased to bring to you with regularity and ease of access here at the brewery. It's quite literally a dream come true.
Green is a live beer and is best kept cold and enjoyed fresh, within 6-8 weeks of canning. Additional fruit forward character will develop over time.
